This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use ChingamMatrimony, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We've written it in plain language so it's easy to understand. By registering or using ChingamMatrimony, you agree to the practices described here.
1. What We Collect
When you register and use ChingamMatrimony, we collect information you give us directly:
- Identity: Full name, gender, date of birth, and caste/community.
- Contact details: Email address, phone number, and home address (street, pincode, district, state).
- Profile information: Height, weight, blood group, occupation, education, income, and family details (parents' names, siblings).
- Matrimonial details: Marital status, birth star (Nakshatra), skin tone, religion, and your partner preferences.
- Profile photo: Stored securely on Cloudflare R2.
- Password: Stored in a secure, scrambled format — we can never see it in plain text.
We also automatically collect basic usage data:
- Which profiles you've viewed (we keep the last 20 unique viewers).
- Interests you've sent or received.
- Profiles you've bookmarked (shortlisted).
2. Why We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Show your profile to other community members who may be a good match.
- Let you search and connect with other approved members.
- Send you important emails — like verifying your account, notifying you of new interests, or telling you when your profile is approved or rejected.
- Review and approve profiles to keep the community authentic.
- Show general stats on our homepage (like total members and happy marriages — always in summary form, never tied to your identity).
We never use your data for advertising, and we never sell it to anyone.
3. Contact & Phone Number Privacy
Your phone number and home address are hidden from everyone by default. They are only shared when:
- You send an interest to someone and they accept it, or
- Someone sends you an interest and you accept it.
Both people must agree before any contact details are exchanged. This is built into how the platform works — there is no way around it.
4. Your Photos
Your profile photo is stored securely on Cloudflare R2 (a cloud storage service). When you upload a new photo, the old one is permanently deleted immediately. If your account is permanently deleted, all your photos are deleted too.
You can also choose to hide your photo — it will appear as a silhouette to other members unless they have an accepted interest with you or you approve their photo request.
5. Search Results
Only approved profiles appear in search results. Your phone number, home address, and full-resolution photo are never included in search results — only non-sensitive information like your name, district, education, and occupation.
6. How Long We Keep Your Data
- Active account: We keep your data as long as you're a member.
- Deactivated account: Your data is kept but hidden from other members. You can ask to reactivate or delete at any time.
- Deleted account: Your profile is removed from public view. On a permanent deletion request, all your personal data and photos are erased from our systems.
- Password reset links and OTP codes expire automatically within a short period for your security.
7. How We Protect Your Data
We take security seriously:
- Passwords are scrambled using strong cryptographic hashing — never stored in plain text.
- Photos are stored in a secure cloud storage service (Cloudflare R2).
- All traffic to our site uses HTTPS encryption.
- Our server is protected by Cloudflare's DDoS protection and web application firewall.
- Login attempts are rate-limited to prevent brute-force attacks.
8. Cookies & Local Storage
We don't use tracking cookies. We use your browser's local storage (similar to cookies, but private to your device) to keep you logged in between visits. This stores your login token and basic profile info like your name. It is cleared when you log out. We don't use advertising trackers or analytics cookies.
9. Third-Party Services We Use
We work with the following trusted services to operate the platform:
- Cloudflare: Protects our website from attacks and stores your photos securely.
- Resend (via SMTP): Sends transactional emails (verification, interest notifications, etc.). Only your email address and the content of that specific email are shared.
- PhonePe (Payment Gateway): Processes your membership fee and any UPI Autopay renewal payments. When you pay, you are redirected to PhonePe's secure payment page. ChingamMatrimony never receives or stores your card, UPI, or banking credentials. PhonePe is RBI-regulated and subject to its own privacy policy.
- Google Fonts & Font Awesome (CDN): Used for typography and icons. Loaded from their own servers and may log standard technical request metadata per their own privacy policies.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics: Anonymous, privacy-friendly website traffic statistics. No personal data is collected or tracked.
Our social media links (Facebook, Instagram) take you to third-party platforms that have their own privacy policies. We don't share any of your data with them.
We do not sell or share your personal data with any third party for marketing or commercial purposes.
10. Sign in with Google (OAuth 2.0)
ChingamMatrimony offers "Sign in with Google" as an optional way to create an account or log in. When you choose this option, Google shares the following information with us, with your explicit permission:
- Email address: Used as your unique account identifier on ChingamMatrimony.
- Name: Used to pre-fill your display name when setting up your profile.
- Google profile picture: Optionally used as a starting point; you may upload your own photo at any time.
This data is used only to create and authenticate your ChingamMatrimony account. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose. We do not share this Google user data with any third party.
You may revoke ChingamMatrimony's access to your Google account at any time through your Google Account permissions page. Revoking access does not delete your ChingamMatrimony account — you can continue to log in using your email and password.
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
11. Age Restrictions
ChingamMatrimony is for adults only — females aged 18 and above, males aged 21 and above. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone below these ages. If we discover an underage account, we will deactivate it and delete all associated data immediately.
12. Your Rights (DPDPA 2023)
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- Access: Ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct: Fix any wrong or incomplete information — you can do this directly in your profile settings.
- Delete: Request permanent deletion of your personal data. We will act within 30 days.
- Withdraw consent: Deactivate or delete your account at any time.
- File a complaint: Contact our Grievance Officer (details below) or escalate to the relevant data protection authority.

13. Data Breach Notification
If we ever become aware of a security incident that affects your personal information, we will:
- Notify affected members as soon as we have confirmed the incident.
- Inform the relevant Indian data protection authorities where required by law.
- Explain what happened, what data was involved, and what steps we are taking to fix it.
We have security measures in place to prevent and detect breaches, and we take this responsibility seriously.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices change or when the law requires it. We'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top when we do. For significant changes, we may also send you an email. Continuing to use ChingamMatrimony after a policy update means you accept the new version.
